  1. Cannabis sativa is the scientific (Latin) name for the marijuana plant.

  2. Cannabis (cannabis sativa) is the formal name for the marijuana plant, so yes, they are the same thing. The web is not necessarily the best place for accurate scientific information about many things, but particularly drugs. Avoid any website that is not a dot gov or dot org (even those are sometimes inaccurate). There is a an excellent chapter about marijuana use and it’s effects in a recent book: Handbook of the Medical Consequences of Alcohol and Other Drugs. Haworth Press. If you Google that exact title, you will find it. Be sure to locate the second edition (2008). Maybe your library can get it for you. It’s written by scientists with no particular political agenda, it’s highly referenced and up to date.

  3. it is the same thing…cannabis is the scientific name for weed because it has cannabanoids in it.weed has THC in it (tetrahydrocannabinol) a chemical that works with ur cannabanoid receptors in the brain. (yes we even have receptors for weed, which also leads me to believe god truly put it here for us lol)
i can give u some facts on its medical uses. it relieves the symptoms of: glaucome and other eye conditions (it clears the cloudiness away in cataracts), deppression and anxiety, nausea, tourettes syndrome, arthritis, and cancer. (of course it doesnt cure cancer, but it has proven to slow it down and relieves the negative side effects of chemotherapy so that the patient can eat and also have some relief from the pain including a sense of mental wellbeing.)
marijuanas effects on you are not even half as strong as being drunk, why they allow booze to be legal and weed not to be baffles me big time. you have total judgement, you dont become a crazed addict from it, (because your brain has receptors for thc, we do not form a dependancy on it).
i used to roll a joint and smoke it on the way to my job 45 mins from my house, no problems.
i felt relaxed and calm, and smoked it because i suffer from depression big time.
i dont like alcohol, and dont drink…the few times i have been drunk were terrible and i vomited and felt so sick the next day…and smoked a joint to take the sickness away. weed doesnt do any of that to you. you dont crash from it like drugs either…it wears off and thats it.
weed helps in such a great way medicinally and you dont get any of those wacky and dangerous side effects you get from prescription pills and meds, and you dont have to wait around for it to work like you have to do with anti depressants…nor does it give u suicidal thoughts like prescription anti depressants do either.
those anti weed commercials on tv are such a lie and a farse.
