Weird Pain In My Spine And Lungs?

My girlfriend, her Mom, Dad and I went grocery shopping at about 7pm Friday (its 2:15am Saturday now) When we got back I carried about 10-15 bags of groceries in with one hand. Upon setting the groceries down I felt a pain in the upper part of my spine and thought nothing of it. My girlfriend and I went in her room and laid down to watch a movie, I kept feeling the pain a little bit with certain movements I would make so I took 800mg of Ibuprofen. After-wards we went downstairs to eat dinner and I felt the pain throughout dinner. We went back upstairs and finished our movie. I went to go put another movie in and started getting the pains really bad so I decided to lay face down on the floor and try to keep my spine straight, it didn’t help much. I also got a pain in my lungs twice (I’m not sure if the incidents are related and I’m a smoker of 7 years – marijuana and cigarettes) Anyways, the pain in my spine occurs with certain arm and neck movements (mainly when I look down like I’m reading a book) and it extends from the base of my neck to the bottom of my shoulder blades, not any lower at all. The pain in my lungs was a sharp pain, a pain I’ve felt before because of inflammation of my lungs, the weird thing is I can take deep breathes and there’s no lung pain or feeling what-so-ever. When I did get the lung pain it was accompanied by the spine pain. I just took 600mg of Ibuprofen and some Tylenol via my girlfriend’s Mom’s recommendation. I also had my girlfriend apply Mineral Ice (Icey Hot) to the area on my spine that hurts. Should I go to the hospital asap or would tomorrow be okay? If I do wait until tomorrow and the pain is gone, should I go anyways? Could this be pain from straining a muscle (I highly doubt it’s a muscle, it definitely feels like the bone is aching) or pulling something in my back? Please, no hypocondriacts. I don’t need any more worry. I want serious, professional suggestions and opinions please. Thank you.

Anyone Ever Work At An Aldi Food Store (us)?

i went for an interview yesterday for an aldi that is opening up by me. i have a few questions for people who have worked there:
1. i know you have to do everything (cashier, stock, clean-up, etc) but is it a super manual job? i don’t mind working but i don’t want to be sweating my a** off everyday or straining my back. we are supposed to be able to lift 45 lbs. how often do you really?
2. they say as a casual employee you must work UNDER an AVERAGE of 20 hrs a week (meaning some weeks i might work more but then they will cut my hours to make up). even with making the $1.25 more/hr. than i make now, at the end of the year it’s still less b.c i work 27 hrs+/week now. is that really true…do they keep track of that like they say?
3. i had to admit to smoking marijuana occasionally b/c it would show up in the drug test (2 yrs) but will that really disqualify me?
4. advice?
i would appreciate real answers from people who really work(ed) there, not guesses, speculations, etc.

Dry Throat, Symptom Of A Sprained Neck?

I sprained my neck due to prolonged hyperflexion (bending my head down for long periods of time playing guitar) over two weeks ago and my throat has been almost consistently mildly dry since that time. My neck still aches, possibly straining ligaments as well as muscles, and my only other symptoms are mild headaches at the back of my head and the dry throat. Some days it’s not so bad, but late at night it seems to get worse. Drinking liquid makes it feel better so the “dry spot” probably isn’t in the trachea but feels like it’s somewhere around or just below my Adam’s Apple, so somewhere in my esophagus I’m thinking. It doesn’t hurt to swallow or feel obstructed.
Maybe the neck swelling has put pressure on this area? Or pressure on the parotid gland?
Now, a small twist. I’ve been feeling some very slight maxillary and frontal sinus pressure on and off over the last week with the neck pain and headaches. I do not have any fever, swollen lymph nodes, pain in my teeth so if they are infected possibly viral. I could be wrong as the maxillary pressure may just be tense facial muscles and the frontal pressure could be a byproduct of the headaches but the frontal sinuses are tender to the touch. I was not aware of these symptoms when my throat first began to feel dry over two weeks ago.
Current Treatment:
I take 400mg Ibuprofen a day with food and use a heat wrap for my neck and headache symptoms. Things feel like they’re getting better but very slowly. Moving in my sleep is causing some flaring of pain within my neck that I notice when I wake up in the morning. I drink only water, milk, and grapefruit juice now and hardly anything sugary like soda for weeks. I see my PCP in 3 1/2 weeks and if I still have these symptoms then I will definitely see an ENT doctor for my dry throat.
History:
I have tested negative for HIV this month. Last and only chance of exposure over 5 months ago. I suppose it could be a singular oral papilloma/wart that coincidentally occurred with my sprained neck. The only way to know that is if it doesn’t clear up and I see an ENT who could schedule an upper endoscopy. This would really irk me as I only had one chance of exposure, again over 5 months ago. Could be GERD or Esophagitis though I don’t suffer all of the symptoms really. Some other possibly relevant history, I have Celiac’s Disease and have been on a GF diet for 4 years, and also quit smoking cigarettes and marijuana (after 6 years) for good and forever last month as well. I only drink 2-3 alcoholic drinks per week, if that, without any pain or side effects and coffee only a few times per week. I am not on any medications or use any other drugs.

Why Should Or Shouldn’t Weed Be Legalized In The U.s.?

Personally, I believe it should be legalized. Tobacco and Alcohol are actually more harmful and more addicting than pot, and they’re legal.
Weed is far less dangerous than tobacco or alcohol. It does not contain nearly as many carcinogens as tobacco, is used as medicine to get rid of nausea and insomnia, and does not make you as intoxicated as alcohol – it doesn’t have the same effect. Even the strongest strains don’t do to you what beer or wine can do to you.
I think it would completely save our economy. People will be going berserk to buy it from the stores, and it will be putting a HUGE profit into the governments pocket. At the same time, people will feel better about the economy, and will be going out to spend money and celebrate – further stimulating the economy
Also illegalizing it hasnt stopped anyone from doing it, it’s just cost them to pay fines, go to jail, and it screws up their records for life. you can smoke up to half your body weight of marijuana all at once and you wont die. marijuana is a harmless drug and making it illegal only ruins peoples life’s because they get thrown in jail and have a record of that drug. child molesters get released because jails are overcrowded and the people replacing them are good hard working people that would prefer to smoke weed than to drink or smoke tobacco.
There have also been no documented health problems that result from long-term use.
Besides, “high” is a word. Just because they use a different word “drunk” to call you when you get drunk doesn’t mean that it’s better or the effects are any milder.

Below is a fictional character in for treatment. I am to compare my treatment plan with those of other substance abuse counselors. Please provide a general treatment plan that you would develop based on the below information.
Bill is 32 years old.
Referred by probation department.
Received 2nd DUI 1 month ago, posted .22 BA level.
First DUI was 3 years ago posting a BA of .18.
Used pot since age 13 and was high on last arrest.
He barely remembers being arrested, but remembers drinking 24 beers and feeling “shaky” upon awakening in jail.
Most of his drinking occurs in the evening after work.
Usually consumes about 6-8. Use is higher on the weekends. The last use of alcohol was 3 days ago.
Bill states that his problem with beer and marijuana began when he started to hang out with older people. He says that he really did not like the way it tasted, but it made him feel different, and away from reality.
He has been married two times. He has two sons. His wife wants him to stop because of all the bills and fines. He also admits that they separated when he got so drunk four months ago that he hit her. Because of this he recalls slowing down for a while and even quitting for about a week or two, but started again when he couldn’t “sleep right”.
Relationship with father is strained with a sound relationship with his mother.
He has received his GED.
Socially, he reports a few friends, mostly drinking or work buddies.
He enjoys hunting and fishing.
He is working as a maintenance person for the past year. He admits that he has received several warning for coming in late.
Medically, he is healthy.
Financially, they are on the verge of bankruptcy.
He smokes about a quarter ounce of pot every 1-2 weeks.
He adamantly denies any other drug use.

Chest Pain From Smoking And Coughing?

Well first off yes I smoke marijuana, I am not here to hear people say ” Stop smoking, marijuana is bad blah blah ” I am asking for help. Not what your insight is on marijuana.
Well I have been sick since feb 6th with a upper chest infection and ear infection also. I have taken all my anti biotics and feel fine now. Well this past weekend I was smoking and I hit a water pipe and coughed really hard. Well ever since then I have been having chest pain. Feels like sore muscles but I am not sure.
I continued to smoke like an idiot and it made it worse, should of taken a week or so long break ( I am now ).
I am just wondering what it could be? Do you think I strained my muscles from coughing to much/hard? Also some times feels like I have a lump in my throat which is weird. I have no sharp pains more of just an annoying pain then anything. It feels better with a heating pad on it or hot water.
I am 19/M

Illinois, Stepson Committed Several Serious Offenses, Attorney Says All He Will Get Is Probation?

15 years old and joined a gang.
Charges are residential burglary (left the back door of a friends home unlocked, entered and stole kid stuff), possession of 10-30 grams marijuana with intent to deliver (found in his room during a voluntary search by police) and mob action (gang beat up kid at school causing serious injury). Also involved in vandalism causing 30K in damages to several cars.
Since came to live here, has caused much upset in the household, plus added financial strain. Must pay support to loser mom until we get custody and support modified.
State law says that the minor must be represented by an attorney, so there goes several thousand dollars down the drain. Time off work, travel to/from court 300+ miles one way, possible fines, court costs.
Probation…a slap on the wrist. Freaking brat.
It seems the only people that are suffering any consequences of all of this are his mother, father and myself.
Need your opinions and real life experiences!
