Could Marihuana Help My Anxiety Disorder?

It’s been 3 years since I’ve been fighting against generalized anxiety disorder.. I want to stop taking lexapro. Some people tell me that marihuana could help me leave the drug and help the anxiety. Any one knows anything about the subject?

  1. Marijuana can be relaxing for some. However, there is a large amount of people that weed has the opposite affect on. It can make you very paranoid. That will lead to anxiety. Or, it can make you just anxious period.
I would recommend you try something else. Go to an herbal supplement store. See what they suggest. Then before you take it talk with you doctor. You do not know how the two drugs will interact. For that matter you don’t know how pot and Lexapro will respond to each other either.
And by the way this is not a “drugs are bad for you” answer. This is a “know more of the facts” answer.

  4. What do the doctors say? You can’t trust those who aren’t credible and just base their replies on hearsay.
Plus, marijuana may help in the short term process, but trust me, in the long term highway, you’re going to get deeper in something else.
Be careful with what you do to your body. It may be irreversible.

  5. Not a good solution. Many people with anxiety become dependent on drugs. I did at one time, with dope. I never felt good being stoned in public because I thought people could see it and were perhaps judging me. In private settings it was enjoyable and relaxing. Drugs are just a band-aid, they don’t really fix anything. I think therapy is the best way to tackle your issues.

  6. nope on the dope! my daughter had medicial mary-jane from Dr.s and it actually increased the feelings of anxiety and she ate till she gained 35 lbs. then she just kept-up the vicious cycle. so when we did talk to Dr.s they said it was a trial basis only . well of course it was and all it does is stimulate the frontal lob of the brain for temp, satisfaction. that’s why you always need to go get more. another vicious cycle-again. your anxiety is best on real Rx’s that work on the total brain as a whole. lexapro is a life time drug because maybe your body cant naturally produce that chemical . so go with the flow and keep trying with talk therapy also . you’ll get used to having less stressful reactions to stimulus. see you at the the other end!

  7. Self destruct girl, please stop self destructing. Take small steps to help overcome it. I used to be scared to buy coffee, I first walked past the shop, then I went in, then later on ordered coffee. It takes a lot and people may judge you but now I feel proud I overcame those fears head on. Now I hold my head high and feel proud of my achievements. They are small in others eyes but big in mine.
I have overcome many fears and live life to the fullest now, It took years but hang in there and pray to God and seek help and support. If I can do it, anyone can.

  8. yeah definitely, but I can almost guarantee you that anyone you reads your question is going to reply with ignorant responses like “your a drug addict loser, go die”, thats how the yahoo answers community works. Anyone who is afraid of a plant is a fool, to each his own and help thy brother. You should definitely at least try it once and i do believe it can help you with anxiety but it could make you paranoid which would put you in the same boat.
