Do You Think It’s Right To Ban Cannabis Based On The Alleged Connection To Psychosis Alone?
The government and the opponents of cannabis often state the alleged connection between cannabis and mental illnesses as the main (or the only) argument in support of its ban. Do you think they have enough ground for their decision, or are they simply using it as an excuse to ban it? Thanks.

marijuana can cause:
memory loss
disorted perception
loss of coordination
reduced blood pressure
increase heart rate -> heart attack
hallucinations
delusions
lung infections
lung cancer
obstruct airways
you wonder why it’s illegal?

As more and more credible evidence is presented to prove that cannabis has practical uses, the men behind the curtain are forced to come up with ways to keep people thinking it is a drug. If you watch a documentary called “Super High Me”, starring Doug Benson, you will see why it’s slowly becoming legal.
During the film, Benson undergoes several exams and evaluations to determine the effect cannabis is or is not having on his body/mind. At one point, one of the doctors seeing him says: “After 17 years of you doing this, I can see no physiological damage done whatsoever.”
I may not be exact on the quote but that is what it meant. I think that evidence alone should be enough to make it available to those who need it.
(Oh, and in the documentary “In Pot We Trust”, you get to see a woman’s cerebral palsy very effectively treated with cannabis.)

If the ban actually stopped people using it, then maybe it would be worthwhile considering, but it doesn’t. It just clogs up courts and police stations and criminalises people, many of whom could find themselves unemployed as a result.
Moderate use in adults is relatively harmless. Excessive use at an early age can have serious effects in the long term, but making it illegal only drives it underground and provides an income for the kind of people who would happily supply stronger/ more harmful drugs to anyone who wants them.
I like the Portuguese idea of making possession and use of any drug legal, but dealing a serious offence.

I smoked every single day in High School, 5 to 10 times a day. Strong, multicolored, potent nugs.
I don’t anymore but I tried it once 6 years after I quit.
I almost had a heart attack. I passed out for 17 hours. I was almost taken to the hospital.
People that smoke weed everyday have built up a HUGE tolerance.
On the day you legalized it, I estimate somewhere around 1 million emergency room visits. During the first month the death toll and hospital time accrued would be astonishing.
You think it’s a harmless drug and granted IT IS, to you.
Consider the nation as a whole.
If your still in high school I tip my hat to you., have fun while you can.
If you’re not. Please, grow up.

Here in the UK, there wasn’t much heard about any connection to psychosis until after cannabis had been downgraded to class C. Then all of a sudden the scare stories start. A few years later, we’re back to class B again. I’ve personally used cannabis for well over forty years with no ill effects at all. Mankind has used it for thousands of years, with pretty much the same result. It’s just a plant.

Yet one person dies a year from smoking dope AND tobacco is more addictive than heroin.
