How Does Alcohol Compare With Marijuana, With Regard To It’s Effects On People’s Relationships?

I personally know someone whose father, when drunk, was violent and unpredictable, but when smoking marijuana, was more of a father figure and generally more ‘with’ the family. Anyone have similar or different experiences?

  1. Both are harmful to your body for starters. Alcohol makes you do stupid things you’ll regret and often leads to a person getting hurt or killed. There have been no deaths with marijuana and it makes a person relaxed and chill…and very hungry. Alcohol brings out a different side to a person and affects each individual differently: Noisy drunk, happy drunk, horny drunk, violent drunk, ect. Marijuana makes a person feel either very peaceful or very paranoid. Alcohol makes you pass out and you get a nasty hang over, marijuana sets you into a peaceful sleep and you wake up nice and rested. I personally would support someone smoking over drinking any day.

  2. im go keep it real with you. Cigarette’s and Alcohol is WORSE than Marijuana. Close to 100 people in the US a day kill themselves in Drunk Driving Accidents. Marijuana like anything, is not for the irresponsible. The legalization of it, would consist of some who sit at home and do nothing but that. But you can argue the same thing with Alcohol, there are people who sit and drink all day long. I am sure there are cases of marijuana affecting families, but not NEAR as many as Alcohol. Families are destroyed because of Alcohol, Pot does not change who the person is. You hear all the time people who fight people, and change into totally different people when they are drunk. That affect is not prevalent amongst marijuana users.

  3. Marijuana isn’t bad, with some people they let it make them too chill/lazy but you can actually “train” against that(I’ve done it). Marijuana also makes you more sensitive to other people unless you get pot paranoia so yea, your example makes sense.
Alcohol is less predictable when done in excess(unless you pass out), but generally a bit of alcohol won’t have negative effects on people. Having a couple drinks tends to make me more outgoing/energetic. Pot in excess is pretty predictable: either paranoia or waaaay chilled out.

  4. i agree, when under the influence of alcohol one can be angered and have no emotion but when stoned someone usually is more emotional and caring.

  5. Both are mind alternating drugs. Neither should be used to extremes.
