How Long Does A Medical Marijuana Card Last Before You Have To Renew It?

I am wondering how long a medical marijuana card lasts before it “expires” and you have to pay to get it renewed. I am planning on getting one for my backpains I have from a past accident and I would like to know how often I have to pay to get the card renewed. (unless there is a way to get a card that does not expire) Thank you.

  1. Most States with MMJ require a yearly renewal with the registry. The registry renewal form requires a Dr to sign the recommendation every year. There is usually a lower fee for renewal. The fees are requirements are State / county/ city law. The specific answers are on a State web site.

  2. The most a doctor can recommend is a year. They can also give out temporary letters for shorter than a year, if the patient does not bring in sufficient evidence of their diagnosis and more medical records are required.

  3. Renewals will cost you between $80 and $150 depending on the doctor you go to. Your mileage may vary. If you don’t go by the expiration date, you should still be OK, just don’t let too much time go by.
