I Have A Summons To Appear In Court….?
My landlord wants to evict me. My ex was growing marijuana on the property. I wanted to know how long after I get evicted will I have to get out with it being drug related. I’m in Michigan.

Generally an unlawful detainer action is required in order to get a writ of Ejectment, which is the order for a tenant to vacate and return the unit to the landlord. Once the trial ends, there is a 5 day waiting period, assuming a ruling for the landlord, after which the tenant must go or they may be physically removed.

Eviction is a legal process. The landlord has to post a notice on your door and that sets the wheels in motion. It can take two or three months to get a court order and have a deputy of the court to physically remove you and your stuff, depending on whether you get your own lawyer and fight it Make sure to respond to all correspondence from the court. The landlord’s reason doesn’t matter much, it just has to be good enough for the court to issue the order.

A word of advice, from a former landlord: do not wait to be evicted — move out immediately. When a prospective tenant would apply to rent one of my units, I would do a checkup, and an eviction on the record was absolutely disqualifying. And that means FOREVER. If you move out before the court date, ask the landlord to dismiss the eviction action, and then it won’t show up on your record.

I’m in Indiana andgot evicted because my landlord cars mysteriously caught fire after we had a confrontation.
Anyways it was 15 days here, the sheriffs delivered it and it had the date and how long we had on it.
