Marijuana And Memory Loss…and Other Empirical Facts?

First off no trolls, i don’t give a **** about your anti marijuana speech nor your reefer madness bs. I wan’t fact’s based on empirical evidence, not what was hammered into your head growing up or other nonsense.
So its been shown that Marijuana can cause short term memory loss. I was wondering though, is this permanent? Also what exactly do you loose; is it harder to store short term into long term memory or is it just things that happened that day. I notice I have trouble remember what I was going to say sometimes if other people are talking for a long time or interrupt, but I guess I have always had that.
Also just to kinda clear things up. Among the things that are found in marijuana, Cannabinoids and THC are the things that you are trying to basically get into your body to feel the effects right? Is THC considered a cannabinoid or or they each different things. Also, what is it that gets you “high” The cannabinoids bind to receptors in the brain but what about THC, that gets stored in the fat cells of your body.. but which is more important to have in the marijuana?
Also ive noticed that when you smoke out of a vaporizer it is definatly cleaner but the high is more … refined. When i smoke out of a bong it gets me super ripped… but why is that? I was always told a vaporizer should get you higher. Is this because of all the carcinogens that you are inhaling by combusting the plant matter?
Sorry for the questions, I was just kind of curious about some things, So many studies are conflicting and its harder to find exact answers to some of these questions.

  1. i guess it depends on the person.
i don’t think there is any hard evidence that marijuana causes actual memory loss (placebos can cure people from simple power of suggestion)
i’ve been smoking 10 years now and i have a memory like no other. i smoke much of the day and im still able (at 25) to learn japanese on my own, remember phone numbers from childhood and any that i learn now.
i think that these “Facts” that have demonized weed are unfounded and misleading.
from the vape you are getting less impurities…less of the plant and only THC…
when you smoke from the bong its a lot of THC in one hit as compared to a hit from a pipe so one hit is going to feel like 2 or 3 from a pipe (since thats about what it is, no?)
and while there are carcinogens in PARTS Of the marijuana plant, not much to speak of in what MOST people smoke and if you drink or eat it that takes the risk out altogether. not only that but scientists have found that THC has certain cancer fighting qualities that cancel out any possible damage they are causing. cell apoptosis, shedding cells (as they say marijuana DOES kill brain cells) but not healthy ones…ones that would do better being shed anyway..same goes from lungs and such.
    cigarettes can cause lung cancer.
but those who smoke ciggs and marijuana together are less likely to get the negative effects associated with tobacco use.
those who only smoke marijuana are unlikely to have more than minor irritation from time to time from the simple heat of the smoke going down your throat.
our brains are equipped with cannabinoid receptors…our bodies make endocannabiniods…its as natural for our bodies as water…
(people have died from drinking too much water…no one has EVER died from smoking too much weed. EVER)

  2. It’s well known that it affects your memory:http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200…
    It’s known it causes schitzophrenia:http://www.nature.com/mp/journal/v7/n5/f…http://www.springerlink.com/content/h784…
Long term memory will need to assessed using a long term study. This is obviously going to take quite a few years so the results won’t be known for quite some time. Given that it clearly has plenty of negative effects on your brain, there’s an extremely good chance that long term use will increase the chance of this happening.

  3. Whether the short term memory loss is permanent isn’t exactly well known. There are a bunch of conflicting studies regarding marijuana use on the brain. It’s said to make it harder to learn on it, because it makes it harder to remember what you just heard(or what you were going to say). So if you are on it all day you will have short term memory loss all day and therefor not be able to remember what happened that day as well.
THC is a cannabinoid. It is the main thing that gets you high, and it is also binding to the cannabinoid receptors in your brain(which can hinder your braincells ability to communicate with each other since it blocks them off). The main things that get you high are THC, which causes the psychedelic type effects, and CBD, which causes calming effects. Several of the other cannabinoids just have medicinal purposes, but no euphoric effects.
Personally vaprizors seem to have gotten me higher, but the high is different. I’m not sure why it is, it may be because not all of the cannabinoids are being released. And since it isn’t exactly smoke perhaps less oxygen is being depleted from your brain.
