Should You Admit To Marijuana Use When Trying To Enter The Navy?

If you plan on joining the Navy for 3 years, and staying 100% sober for 3 years in the Navy, should you still admit if you had a past history of marijuana use?

  1. honestly, it doesnt matter. most of the people i know have used it at some point before joining. some of them still use it now that theyre enlisted. they really dont care, all of the services are hard up for recruits except maybe the air force, so theyll take everyone.

  2. Yes, because if you are not upfront, you will have to keep lying on your medical forms, your security clearance etc., etc. And if you decide you want to stay in longer than three years, you will be have to keep up the lie. If you ever want to work for the gov’t after the Navy, you will have keep up the lie.
And, if the Navy kept out everybody who smoked marijuana, there would be about 3 people left.

  3. I admitted it to my recruiter. Recruiters don’t typically care because they’re trying to get you in. He/she will just tell you to not mention it on the medical documents that you will fill out or to the people at MEPS. The recruiter will ask when was the last time you used weed and if it was long enough where it is out of your system, then who cares.

  4. depends on how much. I admitted to mine and got an EOD contract so I would venture to say that any spot is open if you have a minor history of weed usage for me it was 10 times. If you enjoyed it on a regular basis I would admit to it, but tone the truth down. Just DONT LIE
    good luck my friend

  5. by all means DO NOT TELL THE NAVY THAT YOU USED IT!! it will be on your record, you might have to get a waiver, so if you did not pop on a piss test, then keep it between you and god!!

  6. Your safest bet is simply not to lie. Be honest. As long as you aren’t still using, and haven’t used in a long time, you should be fine.
