Ok dude, these are NOT opinions. First, I gotta say it takes years of almost daily use for these to take place. Don’t let it get out of hand. Second, some will disagree with me, most haven’t been smoking long enough to know, some are in denial, and some will be stoned as they answer your question. Everything I type will be true….very true.
First Jail or fines – Sucks because beer and cigs are worse, but that’s life.
Second – Short term memory loss…baaaad “where did I put my…?”
Anxiety and paranoia “dude, is that a cop?”
Isolation – Most don;t want to leave their house or hang with anyone who doesn’t smoke (this isn’t always the case, but is common
Altered depth perception, this is why you should never drive stoned. Try to play baseball stoned, you’ll suck.
Damage to your lungs from unfiltered smoke. Look in any weed pipe, that’s in your lungs too. Bongs are safer.
Slower reaction time (in time this will be if you are stoned or not, it does slow your brain a bit
Overeating “munchies”
Last but not least, addiction. Don’t let anyone BS you here with that “It’s not addictive or it’s only a mental addiction” crap. Addiction is addiction. Ask any daily smoker not to smoke for two weeks, not gonna happen without a little freaking out, bad dreams, or other classic withdrawal symptoms. You can become addicted with heavy, daily use. This addiction is however easier to break than most.
Now having said that, there are a ton of benefits too, but you asked for neg effects. A lot of people will dislike my honesty, but it’s true. I do think it should be legal, I do think people could use a smoke now and then to calm them down, settle upset stomach, ease pain, promote creativity and much more.
If you’re thinking about smoking for the first time, think hard and DON’T let it get out of hand.

Smoke of any kind is dangerous to the lungs.
People with a lowered immune system have to be extremely careful when using. As a plant that is unprocessed before used, it contains bacteria and fungi by nature, and possibly chemicals (fertalizers, pesticides) – as does everything that is grown, like fruits and veggies. A healthy person would never be harmed by any of that, its very very small amounts. But someone with a lowered immune system would have to be very careful (I used marijuana during cancer treatments to counter some of the side effects. My cancer is leukemia, so I spent a lot of time being neutropenic, and marijauna falls under the list of restricted foods of the neutropenic diet).
It can be emotionally addictive – anything and everything can be emotionally addictive if it gives the person pleasure and is abused.
Long term use can lead to depression issues.
Use by mental health patients can worsen their symptoms.

It can lead to social isolation, where you spend most of your time alone indoors being stoned.
