For sure it would be taxed like cigarettes. This would provide a new source of tax revenue for the government, which should result of the lowering of other taxes, such as sales tax and income tax. The lower taxes should stimulate the economy.
As for whether it would produce a negative impact on productivity, I’d say doubtful. It would have the same restrictions as alcohol, i.e. don’t do it at work.

Deformed babies, increased population in mental institutions, school delinquency, decrease life expectancy, teenage pregnancies, more potent substances, vagrancy, or unemployment. You decide.
BTW, Scott M. — We can’t even get the dealers in prison much less than users.

I think the tax revenues would be great. I also think the fact we won’t be filling our prisons with pot smokers will allso be a benifit.

it would be a good thing as it would take cannabis off the black market, drug dealers would need to find other incomes , tax could be paid on it and it could be regulated it would be similar to alcohol
people who dont smoke it would continue not to smoke it and those that do will continue to do so

I will guarantee you that legalized cannabis will not help the economy because it will mean that there will be even more wild young people doing stupid destructive things that have to be paid for by someone else.
