Who Wants To Legalize Marijuana Instead Of Alcohol And Why??

I have trouble accepting and understanding why we as intelligent people (for the most part) are ok with the goverment saying that Alcohol can be legal and pot cannot? Statistically, alcohol ruins many more lives then marijuana, in a multitude of ways.. and I cannot imagine a stoner bar fight? come on People, I am aware that prohibition didn’t work.. but why do we all sit quietly while the government decides what we are allowed to be addicted too?? Hello?/

  5. Many many people agree with you. My city, Denver, has passed its own ordinances to that very effect. It is now “legal” to possess up to an oz. of pot. Our police department has been directed by the voters of this city that marijuana enforcement is to be the last priority of the Denver P.D. Effectively, this means DPD do not enforce marijuana laws.
However, I put “legal” in quotes because the great State of Colorado and the United States both still have laws on the books prohibtting pot possession.
Denver has done what it could, it allocated police funds to everything but pot enforcement. The rest of this state is pretty conservative (except Boulder of course) so the state-wide referendum to legalize pot failed. Denver is not the only U.S. city to do this, there is no reason others could not. While such ordinances may not change people’s minds overnight….it creates statistics that show that other crime rates are unaffected by stopping marijuana enforcement. They may end up showing alcohol related crimes decrease, but we’ll have to wait and see. Big surprise that pot heads aren’t violent criminals, huh?
