Why Is Alcohol Legal While Marijuana Is Illegal When The Other Is More Damaging And Addictive?
1. You can overdose to the point of death on alcohol-not on pot
2. Drunks can be violent and sexually deviant-unlike hungry and passive on pot
3. Alcohol is an intoxicant it kills your body much quicker than marijuana.

It has a bad social stigma. In other words, there’s no good reason.
I don’t smoke it but I’d sure as hell vote to legalize it.

There are a lot of reasons and the government is completely hypocritical about the entire situation. There is absolutely no justification in keeping cannabis illegal.
Amazon_warrior_98: Your take on marijuana is skewed in a way that makes me feel sorry for you for being so misled and makes me laugh at the silliness of some of your comments.
I will touch base on each issue you posted about.
You are right, long term use can lead to an addiction but NOT at all the same as alcohol. Marijuana is less physically addicting than caffeine. However, psychologically it can be addicting. But a psychological addiction can happen with anything…video games, TV, computers, gambling, sex, etc.
Marijuana is often considered an anti-depressant, it doesn’t put thoughts of suicide into a persons mind at all. Also, the only time it can cause any mental disorders (such as schizophrenia) is when the user is predisposed to the disease. Similarly, the only people who put themselves at any additional risk for heart problems are people with existing heart problems. Your lack of acknowledgment on these aspects proves you are trying nothing more than to skew facts in your favor.
Then you go on to say that it puts a person at a large risk for cancers, even more so than cigarettes! Which I think it quite amazing that you would believe that, considering tobacco kills over 450,000 people in the U.S. each year yet marijuana use alone has never killed anyone in the history of it’s known use, not to mention there has not been one single case of a person getting cancer from marijuana. Show me one case of marijuana causing cancer and I’d gladly admit I am wrong.
Marijuana use doesn’t CAUSE anyone to be violent. You are correct that there are people who are violent in nature and happen to smoke marijuana. But alcohol can cause a person to act completely out of character and their moods can swing very quickly for the worse.
Marijuana does not put a person in the mindset to become so easily violent.
I have seen some of the nicest people I’ve met become violent when they drink. It’s an odd event to see a person with a kind heart become so cold. I have not witnessed similar events happen due to marijuana consumption.
To view marijuana and alcohol as equally dangerous is ignorance at it’s best. Alcohol use can cause death from one time of use due to alcohol poisoning. Marijuana also doesn’t make a person behave so drastically out of character like alcohol does.http://www.druglibrary.org/schaffer/libr…
“At present it is estimated that marijuana’s LD-50 is around
1:20,000 or 1:40,000. In layman terms this means that in order to induce
death a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times as
much marijuana as is contained in one marijuana cigarette. NIDA-supplied
marijuana cigarettes weigh approximately .9 grams. A smoker would
theoretically have to consume nearly 1,500 pounds of marijuana within
about fifteen minutes to induce a lethal response.”
And I can’t believe you are stating alcohols medical benefits while denying marijuana has any. I personally have family members that take it medicinally. My wife’s aunt was taking anti-depressants that caused her to hallucinate and caused her body to fail physically and mentally. The hallucination were anything from my wifes dead mother to a “hole” in the floor the the bed was floating over and she thought she was going to fall, she thought she was seeing creatures and thought she was holding a baby, etc. She can hardly move around anymore. Now she stopped taking the plethora of medications the doctors were giving her and only takes marijuana. She said it was the first time in over a year she hadn’t felt any pain. As she was telling us this she was crying, it was very moving.
I’ve witnessed this with many other people who live with pain every day. Not only is it good for dealing with pain but it actually helps with a large number of diseases.
Rick Simpson has actually cured cancer using a concentrated cannabis oil. http://www.phoenixtearsmovie.com
If you need links to other proof of medical benefits I’d definitely be willing to do so.
The point is, marijuana is both a safer and more effective medicine than many over-the-counter and prescription medicines.
When I had bronchitis earlier this year I used my vaporizer and marijuana to help with my body pain and my coughing. Not only did my body feel good buy my coughing per hour was cut in half.
