Why Is Amitriptyline Legal But Not Marihuana?

Don’t many over the counter and prescribed medications such as psychotropics do more damage than marihuana does?

  1. marijuana was originally deemed illegal to create a monopoly in the newspaper business…hemp paper was being used and then deemed illegal. as for a more specific answer to your question, it’s very complicated. prescribed drugs are regulated, and their manufacturing is regulated. drug companies give money to the government, which influences what turns out legal and illegal. the government is neither regulating marijuana nor profitting off it, therefore it is not legal. it really doesn’t have a lot to do with how good or bad things are for you or what can cause more damage. if drugs were made legal or not legal under those terms, alcohol and nicotine would definitely not be legal, they are far more damaging than a lot of illegal drugs! so, to sum it up, the answer to your question is complicated!

  2. Amitriptyline is not an over the counter medication. You need a prescription for this drug and it is an approved drug by the FDA.Marijuana how ever like other illegal drugs has not been approved.
