Why Isn’t Hemp (notice, Not Marijuana) Legal? How Can You Make It Legal?….would Solve So Many Fuel Problems.
If hemp was legal it could be grown to use as a fuel for cars. It could be used to power anything? Hemp has little to NO THC, which is in marijuana, that gets you high. I respect people that use marijuana, but that’s not my argument. I just dont understand how stupid our government can be. they could actually make a profit off of it too. It takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen and if we start growing these plants they’ll take in a lot of carbon dioxide which is essentially causing global warming? so what do people think is the problem other than the continuous plea of “we’ll have to make marijuana legal” and really what’s so bad about that it doesn’t hurt anyone like other drugs even though it’s portrayed as such.
You have to ask the question, how come our “hybrid” cars don’t get as good MPG as some regular straight gas European cars.
We also made some of the finest all electric cars that could be had……we crushed em all
Oil = money, and the better gas mileage and /or electric cars would also take away all the tax money at the gas pumps.
We could tax the hemp sure, but the oil profits, if I remember when Chucklenutz came in oil was fluctuating at 15-25 dollars, now it’s close to 100, that’s a lot of profit the oil men will miss if we produced other auto fuels, granted the farmers would now get it, but I think the oil people will buy legislation to keep them very profitable, Exxon again just reported record earnings in a quater….again

Though you might have your fact you should also be aware that Hemp requires allot and I mean allot of energy to grow and be processes hence the reason is not been looked at as an alternative fuel. I am sure they are trying to figure out how to make it less energy consuming to produce, but of course that we wont know until they have done it. Just think of the reason hemp is been used for clothing, is much durable and last 10 times longer than cotton and artificial fiber blends. As you can see it’s life span also makes it very difficult to process, just like tobacco leaf though is much richer and easier to grow than soy beans or sun flowers and could be a good source of alternative energy, it is also highly difficult to process. Just Google all the stuff I have mentioned and you will find the facts… GOOD LUCK and is interesting how involved many people get here on yahoo regarding alternative fuels…

I am pretty sure hemp is legal. I really hope so because my Converse All-Star rip off shoes are made from hemp and I would hate to go to jail over them. (they are ok shoes but I am not willing to pay a fine and spend my time in a holding cell over them) You have to get a license or permit to grow industrial hemp but I don’t see how that would be a problem to anyone wanting to grow to make products for commercial sale. As for the carbon dioxide, any plant takes in carbon dioxide and releases oxygen so there is no point to your argument. I could make the point that we could plant fields of poison ivy but there is nothing compelling in that argument either.

Hemp Is legal…Many things are made of hemp. Yes we do need to make Marijuana legal. The legal status of it is causing more harm than anything. Our government is just greedy. It doesn’t Kill you like tobacco or alcohol. It doesn’t cause diseases or ailments either. The only reason its illegal is because it can be grown ANYWHERE and the government wouldn’t be able to collect taxes on it. Its been scientifically proven that it helps and/or cures such diseases as Glaucoma.
